Writing and Photography Workshop with Julia Bell and Elly Clarke
Beschreibung des Events
Writing and Photography Workshop with writer Julia Bell and artist Elly Clarke.
Open to writers, photographers and visual artists alike. Exercises will be set in both writing and photography - in groups and alone. The photographic exercises focus more on framing, composition and looking than high end technical details. So whilst students are encouraged to bring 'real' cameras if they have them, smart phones are also totally adequate.
JULIA BELL is a writer and Senior Lecturer at Birkbeck College, London where she is the Course Director of the Creative Writing MA. She is the author of three novels, most recently The Dark Light, the co editor of the Creative Writing Coursebook as well as three volumes of short stories. She also takes photographs, writes poetry, short stories, occasional essays and journalism. She divides her time between London and Berlin. http://www.juliabell.net
ELLY CLARKE is an artist interested in the changing place and role of the physical body and object in our increasingly digitally-mediated and experienced world. She explores this through photography (analogue and digital), video, drawing, performance, curating and participatory projects and, more recently, through #Sergina, a Drag Princess alter ego, who performs songs about life and love in the age of digitalism. Elly's work has been shown at venues that include The Lowry Centre, Salford Quays; Kiasma, Helsinki; Franklin Furnace, New York; Midland Art Centre, Birmingham; Milton Keynes Gallery; The Banff Centre, Canada; Fabrica Brighton and NCCA in Moscow. For five years Elly ran Clarke Gallery - initially out of her flat and later as a mobile venture. http://www.ellyclarke.com
