In the Mental Health First Aid course, participants learn about the signs and symptoms of common and disabling mental health problems in adults, how to provide initial help, where and how to get professional help, what sort of help has been shown by research to be effective, and how to provide first aid in a crisis situation.
Participants will learn the practical skills to assist someone who is experiencing mental health problems or crisis such as:
Developing Mental Health Problems
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Psychosis
- Substance Use Problems
Crisis Situations
- Suicidal thoughts and behaviours
- Panic Attacks
- Severe effects of drug and alcohol abuse
- Non-Suicidal Self Injury
- Traumatic Events
- Severe Psychotic States
The course is divided into 6 parts of 2 hours each.
Part 1 on September 11th, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m
Part 2 on September 16th, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m
Part 3 on September 17th, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m
Part 4 on September 18th, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m
Part 5 on September 20th, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m
Part 6 on September 21st, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m
