Community Day - Berlin Science Week 2024

One of the most important focus points of this year is strengthening Berlin Science Week as not just a festival but also a community, a platform for peer-to-peer exchange and growth for science communicators.

We are happy to announce that in preparation for this year’s Open Call for Participation for Berlin Science Week, we are inviting our community to a Community Day event to get to know each other, network and exchange on ideas for prepaping your event for the Berlin Science Week. At the event, you will also have the chance to meet the Berlin Science Week team and learn about this year’s opportunities to participate.

Our Community Day is scheduled for 7 May, 9.15 am – 1.00 pm CET, at our Office, Kochstr. 6-7

Join the event, become part of the community, and learn and exchange with each other about the secret sauce of great science events and communication. After a meet and greet with the team, followed by a quick and comprehensive information session, we invite you to participate in one of our two workshops, meant to help elevate your science event or social media skills. The workshops will be organised by the Berlin University Alliance and Archimedes Exhibitions.

Workshop option 1: How to best promote your science event with social media?

Join one of the 15 Sciencefluencers of the Berlin University Alliance, for a "Event Promotion Workshop", to learn all about how to best promote your science communication event on social media. Learn useful tools and methods for creating engaging formats, gaining exposure, and delivering important information in bite-sized, attractive formats! This workshop is in English.

Workshop option 2: How to creatively explore different formats for innovative science events?

Join Katharina Loderstädt, Creative Director and Christina Rühlmann, Director Communications & Storytelling, at Archimedes Exhibitions, for a “Formate-Werkstatt”. 

You will explore innovative ways to present scientific content through exciting, engaging, and unexpected event concepts or interventions. Learn how to create a compelling user experience, and choose the best format — digital, hybrid, or analog. Participants will also experience how metaphors can enhance their outreach and feature inspirations from existing formats and design thinking methods. Ideal for all organizations seeking outstanding visibility. This workshop is in German.
