Sri Lavanya Subramaniam is an acclaimed artist, educator, and curator known for her innovative approach to Indian classical dance. Trained at the Temple of Fine Arts in Bharatanatyam and Carnatic vocal music, she has also studied Odissi and Kathak under renowned mentors, continually expanding her artistic vision.

With a commitment to blending traditional techniques with contemporary themes, Lavanya creates works that explore relevant social issues while celebrating and bringing Indian classical arts to wider audiences. As co-curator of Berlin Baithak and Natya Initiative Berlin, she champions diversity in the arts, fostering inclusive spaces for creative exploration and collaboration.

Lavanya is also a dedicated teacher and mentor, engaging young artists, guiding their growth, and encouraging interdisciplinary connections. Based in Berlin as a full-time professional performing artist and holding a Master’s in English Linguistics, she continues to share the transformative power of dance on local and international stages.
