About this event

  • 6 hours

Technological progress is once again challenging our images of learning. What should humans learn? What makes us special? What might learning look like in the future? What do we want it to be? Which other futures of learning can we imagine? It seems more urgent than ever that we explore these questions together and develop new answers and new ideas for action in the present.

Participants in this online workshop address these questions using the method of a Futures Literacy Laboratory. First, they delve into probable, desirable, and alternative futures of learning in the year 2040 and the assumptions behind them. Powerful questions and many new options for action in the present then emerge.

How it works:

The online laboratory will take place on Friday, July 5th, 2024 from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm Central European Summer Time, including breaks (long break of one hour at ca. 5 pm). We will go through all four phases of a Futures Literacy Laboratory, alternating between group work and the plenary. Zoom and Miro will be used. Registration is possible via Eventbrite with a regular participation fee of 80 euros and a maximum of 12 participants. Please contact us for other registration options or discounts if needed.

What you can expect:

  • Develop new, relevant insights on the futures of learning.
  • Experiment with different futures and strengthen your imagination.
  • Learn about the Futures Literacy Laboratory method by experiencing it for the first time.
  • Meet other people and organizations who are also interested in the futures of learning.

Who this laboratory is for:

  • People who are concerned with the future of learning and are looking for new impulses.
  • People who want to strengthen their competence in dealing with the complexity, uncertainty, and openness of futures.
  • People who want to get to know the method of the Futures Literacy Laboratory and use it in their own contexts.
  • People who do not speak German (there is a Lab in German on June 28th).
