Do you ever feel like a small dot in the universe? When was the last time you contemplated the cosmos within you? Join us for the tour (Re)connecting with the world around, where we explore the work of artists who shift perspectives. These artists pose provocative questions, offer new viewpoints, and expand our understanding by translating the world around us in unique ways. On this art tour, we will visit four galleries in the established gallery district of Charlottenburg. We'll delve into the possibilities and boundaries of art while discussing pressing issues such as the environment, human connections, and the variations in perception.
We will start at Société with Trisha Baga’s exhibition, Contact. In this new body of work, Baga combines personal imagery with dazzling starscapes culled from deep space photography, echoing Carl Sagan’s “The cosmos is within us. We are made of star stuff. We are a way for the universe to know itself.” We will then visit Wolfgang Tilmans photographic landscapes at Galerie Buchholz; we will confront art historical theories and boundaries of art at Mehdi Chouakri based on the works by Frederik Vaerslev; we’ll finish with the thought-provoking and fresh art works by Argentinian artist Santiago de Paolis at Meyer Riegger, whose work is presented for the first time in Germany.
This tour is led in English. Please arrive early to make sure we can start on time. Due to the fragility of some of the artworks we see, backpacks and large objects are not allowed.
