Out of Bounds is a series of works presented by Sarah Fahey and Rebecca Martin, surrounding the theme of being outside the limits of where one should be.

Fahey and Martin graduated from NCAD in 2020 and have been members of Block T since March 2021.

Both artists have visually interpreted the theme of being out of bounds or out of reach through painting, as well as recent experimentation with various mediums.

The work aims to present an insight into Fahey and Martin's differing observations of landscape, architecture, structural forms within nature and an ongoing exploration of outdoor spaces, that bring about a feeling of forbidden adventure. We see derelict structures, natural habitats and unfamiliar landscapes abstracted in various mediums as a result of this.

The Irish landscape is represented as a fun, natural playground with endless possibilities for inspiration, as well as the darker side of our seasonal changes where time feels like it’s moving by ever so slowly. The final pieces in the exhibition are a reflection of our visual notebooks and photographic materials throughout this year.
