Description

How to feel home (English)

We are more and more living in a world of shifting homes and while we do so we carry with these movements feelings such as insecurity and homesickness but also a need to change, an urge to grow, and even an ability to adapt to our new surroundings. All these can shed light or cloud the very perception of what it feels to be at ‘home’.

This workshop is a space for people with migratory backgrounds and experiences to come together, and reflect upon who we are and where we come from.

As a safe space to share experiences, the workshop will be an exchange of strategies on how to understand what just is the “feeling of home.” It is "Dear Home’s" truest aim to create an experience that helps each participant to take the feeling of home into their own hands.

The workshop is divided into two blocks of time. The first block is a place for self reflection–an exercise of digging deep within ourselves and discovering our inner-meanings of home. In the second block we collectively work on strategies, and engage in finding ways to empower the feeling of home in the people around us. Each participant will leave this safe space with a tool to continue feeling at home and empowering their neighbors to take the feeling of home into their own hands.

The facilitators of this workshop are the two Berlin residents of the "Dear Home" Collective, Elliot Silva Otero and Agnieszka Bulacik. Both these characters have found a home in Berlin through the process of creating within the "Dear Home" team.

You can find more about the work this collective does on their website.
