In dieser Stadt fließt so manches zusammen. GULFH OF BERLIN geben dem besonderen Mix einen Namen – sie schöpfen aus den afroamerikanischen Quellen der modernen Jazztradition, lassen freies Spiel, Energie, Trash, Humor und ein Quäntchen Undefinierbares einfließen. Ihr striktes Konzept ist zu hundert Prozent improvisiert, die facettenreiche Besetzung hält alles in der Schwebe, nur am Boden setzen sich hart erspielte Kompositionen ab. Das ist große Kunst – mit leichter Hand zusammengerührt.

In Michael Haves wurde nun jemand gefunden, der mit dem Gespür eines Produzenten den GULFstrom lebendig und in Echtzeit veredelt. Ohne den kompositorischen und spielerischen Fluss zu verändern fügt er eine elektronische Aura hinzu und wird so zum fünften Element des Prozesses.

Ab 2023 erweiterte sich das Projekt als sechstes Element um Antje Messerschmidt an Violine und Viola. Ab 2024 spielt Maike Hilbig den Kontrabass bei GULFH OF BERLIN.
