This course provides a structured first duty station orientation that is designed to transition Airmen from a training mindset to the mission-oriented environment. The first term airmen course reinforces lessons learned in basic military training and technical training to prepare Airmen for their role in supporting their organization's mission.
The course also provides Airmen a unique opportunity to develop their warrior ethos and continued expeditionary mindset. All first term Airmen must attend the first term airmen course within 45 calendar days of arrival to their first duty station (tech school not included). This course is hybrid meaning it will be in person and virtual. Unit Level Commanders, First Sergeants, Superintendents, and Supervisors will:
1. Ensure all first term airmen attend FTEC at the earliest possible date, but no later than 45 calendar days after arriving on station.
2. Provide a memorandum for record to the career assistance advisor for members that do not complete FTAC within 45 calendar days with a justification for the delay.
3. Ensure Airmen are not scheduled for other appointments while attending FTEC.
4. Ensure Airmen have functioning video, microphone, and Wi-Fi for the duration of the course.
