C*SPACE Berlin

Understand, debate & shape Europe together. A café-style lab for curious minds, from civil society to creatives & changemakers.

C*SPACE

What’s in Europe for us, for you today?Between 22 and 26 September 2025 C*SPACE transfers into a Europe Learning Café, a ‘campus’ for exploring Europe and the European cultural, creative, political and innovation context. In a café house style setting, we invite open, participatory dialogues on European values, democracy, and cultural diversity, while critically reflecting on colonial histories and uneven privileges.Who should join? Everyone with a curious mind and interest in Europe: social entrepreneurs, creatives, civil society actors, students, neighbors, and migrant communities in Pankow. The Europe Learning Café will be conducted in multiple languages. Why join? The project offers both foundational knowledge about Europe and practical and creative skills in participation and co-creation, and new networks. Certificates of participation will be issued on demand. The learning program is organised by C*SPACE Berlin and supported by the Berlin Senate Chancellery, Department for European Affairs.

 22.09 – COMPREHEND

Why frameworks exist and how can you be involved? This session will not just cover the Horizon and Erasmus+ frameworks, but also open up a debate about what kind of innovation is funded as well as how to become active in shaping the future funding programs.

The workshop is held in German/English

Innovation frameworks: From Horizon Europe to Erasmus+

This workshop explores the contradictory legacy of the European Enlightenment, that still shape our present. Together, we will reflect on what these ideas mean and examine potential contemporary forms and practices of community.

Philosophy of Europe: “Sick in One’s Own Home?”

This artistic intervention proposes a sensory journey guided by migrant and ancestral memory, from where we weave an inner dialogue with other latitudes. This encounter invites a conversation between tables and cultures, where knowledge and flavors intertwine in a living, transformative experience open to everyone.

Embodied Memories, Decolonisation and Resistance

Using playful methods, personal reflection, theoretical impulses, we explore how belonging arises, how exclusion works, how we can make our coexistence more inclusive.

Language & Type Wall & Workshop

Koopkultur e.V. team will be offering a creative, hands-on workshop celebrating the connections between generations, cultures, and ecosystems through the lens of fungi (mushrooms). Together, participants will create a living 'mycelium wall' by intertwining threads and sharing personal memories, proverbs, recipes and family tales about mushrooms, from foraging in the woods to drying them on the balcony. Participants are welcome to write in any language they feel comfortable with.
As well as storytelling, participants can use silk-screen printing techniques to transfer mushroom designs onto fabric bags or T-shirts. These prints can be enriched with multilingual reflections, forming wearable pieces of memory and culture. The team will also facilitate a discussion about the ecological importance of fungi and how these incredible organisms are inspiring more sustainable and creative ways of thinking and living.
