Kimberly Taylor from Chicago will present innovative ways to help your students connect to real-world topics such as Civil Rights Movements, social justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion. She will talk about racism in Chicago and ways education must improve interculturality. After the death of George Floyd, Kimberly Taylor’s research and work culminated in presenting instructional resources to address the civil unrest occurring in Chicago, the United States, and around the world. From these uprisings grew her Social Justice and Black Lives Matter (BLM) Instructional Resources Collection. The collection features work from trailblazers in African-American studies and Black-thought leaders emphasizing and revealing realities about African-American contributions in America. The Collection features instructional links, historical videos, documentaries, and a glossary of racial equity terms to help us all communicate better about racism. The Social Justice Collection will empower your classroom and create a space of inclusion for people of color while creating more robust topics for group projects, writing, and discussion.Kimberly Taylor is an experienced HSE adult educator and ESL instructor with degrees from DePaul University and Roosevelt University. A thought leader passionate about success, Taylor motivates, inspires and fosters social and emotional learning in her important classes at City Colleges of Chicago.
