The Feuerle Collection
The Feuerle Collection, a non-profit organization in Berlin founded in 2016 by Désiré Feuerle and Sara Puig, features early Imperial Chinese furniture, Khmer sculptures, and contemporary art.
Housed in a renovated WWII bunker designed by architect John Pawson, it fosters dialogue between different cultures and time periods. The collection includes two exhibition halls, a Sound Room, a Lake Room, and an Incense Room. Notably, it's the world's first institution to present Chinese Incense Culture, a 2,000-year-old tradition, as contemporary art.
Désiré Feuerle, with a contemporary art background, pioneered blending ancient art with contemporary pieces in a Cologne gallery in the 1990s, reinterpreting antiques from a modern viewpoint.
Sara Puig, Founder of The Sara Puig Institute for the Arts, is the current President of Fundació Joan Miró in Barcelona, having been a Trustee since 2014. She served as Director of Fundación Francisco Godia in Barcelona, Spain, from 1998 to 2013.
The Feuerle Collection aims to break traditional art presentation norms, fostering a cross-cultural, timeless experience where art speaks for itself, devoid of labels.
It blends contemporary and ancient art, transcending traditional definitions. This fusion of cultures and ages generates unique perspectives and feelings for visitors, creating a new way to experience art—a Gesamtkunstwerk.
