Beverly Area Arts Alliance
The Beverly Area Arts Alliance (“The Alliance”) coordinates art focused events and projects fostering collaboration between artists and the Beverly/Morgan Park community. The Alliance seeks to identify opportunities and incubate ideas to advance Beverly as a hub of culture and creativity on Chicago’s South Side, and it does so by working with like-minded community leaders, organizations and artists that come together to create a vibrant environment in which to live and do business.
The Alliance’s annual cornerstone event is the Beverly Art Walk (the “Art Walk”, or “BAW”), which features work by more than 150 artists displayed in local businesses and organizations throughout the neighborhood. It also includes live music, artist demonstrations, home studio tours and the creation of permanent public art. In addition to coordinating and executing the Art Walk, the Alliance works throughout the year to organize pop-up exhibitions in local businesses and vacant storefronts, facilitate educational opportunities for area artists, students, and community members, as well as, present a quarterly reading series called “The Frunchroom.”
The Alliance was formed in 2014 by local artists and community activists, and has gained tremendous growth in a short time. We believe this is due in part to The Alliance events and outreach fulfilling the deep need of a community with a serious appreciation and esteem for the arts.
