Helping Hands YEG
Helping Hands YEG is a community based organization operating in Edmonton since 2018, dedicated to supporting mental health awareness and providing meaningful support to individuals and families in need.
The organization was founded in honour of Deklin, with a mission rooted in turning loss into purpose. What began as a group of friends coming together through tragedy has grown into a community driven movement focused on encouraging open conversations around mental health, reducing stigma, and reminding people that they are not alone.
At the core of Helping Hands YEG is a simple but powerful goal. To save at least 1 life every year
Since its founding, Helping Hands YEG has created opportunities for connection through events, outreach, and grassroots initiatives. In 2019, the organization hosted a large scale community car show supported by multiple local sponsors, bringing together businesses, families, and community members for a shared cause. As part of this event, a high quality printed magazine was produced, highlighting winners, sponsors, and community partners while showcasing the impact of the initiative.
From 2019 through 2021, Helping Hands YEG also participated in the South Common Farmers Market during outdoor seasons, operating donation and awareness stands with the help of dedicated volunteers. Through these efforts, funds were raised by selling branded merchandise including custom seat belts, car air fresheners, and apparel, all designed to spread awareness while supporting the organization’s mission.
Helping Hands YEG has also contributed to mental health initiatives through partnerships with established organizations, including support for programs under the Dreams for Kids Guardian Angel Fund. These efforts helped provide access to counselling, educational resources, and crisis support for youth and families facing difficult circumstances.
Today, Helping Hands YEG continues to grow as a community focused organization that blends impactful initiatives with engaging events. Whether through comedy nights, community gatherings, or future large scale projects, the goal remains the same
to create connection, raise awareness, and make a real difference in people’s lives.
