Step by Step to Your Stage Performance
Let the two renowned puppet theater artists Cargi Yilmaz and Georg Jenisch lead you to the world of marionettes at the PuppenTheater-Museum, Berlin.
Under the expert supervision of these two artists, you will learn the craft of carving heads and hands. You will gain insight into the design&construction of the puppet and experience how to breathe life into your puppet through animation.
The masterclass is aimed at people over 18 who want to familiarize themselves with the necessary processes for creating a puppet theater production.
From creation to a convincing stage presence.
The masterclass culminates in a performance in the regular program of the PuppenTheater-Museum, Berlin, where all participants can present their acquired skills to a wide audience.
The artists:
Marionette Design & Construction– Cagri Yilmaz, puppeteer, director, writer, and translator, studied philosophy at the Middle East Technical University, Turkey before focusing on puppetry as a student of Miroslav Trejtnar and Marek Becka.
She was the founder of Ahsap Cerceve Puppet Theatre, TRUP, and Cagri Yilmaz Puppets, with whom she toured Europe, Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East. She designed puppets and masks for theater and TV productions, translated plays, and led numerous workshops in puppet design & construction.
Cagri Yilmaz has been living in Berlin since 2024.
Puppet Manipulation – Georg Jenisch
From early childhood, he was closely associated with the Salzburg Marionette Theater, where he was trained as a puppeteer by Prof. Gretl Aicher. After studying composition at the Mozarteum in Salzburg and premiering his own operas ("Edward II. (Vienna)" and "Dargelos-Ritual (Court)"), he made a name for himself primarily through his opera productions with puppet theater (Orff's "Prometheus," Berlioz's "Symphonie fantastique," Stravinsky's "Oedipus Rex," de Falla's "El amor buja," etc.). Jenisch also created numerous puppet scenes for films ("Haydn's Night" (with Udo Samel), "Shostakovich - Dem kühlen Morgen entgegen" (with Armin Mueller-Stahl), and "Der Traum").
From 2018 to 2024, he directed the gallery "KunstBlicke Jenisch" as founder, curator, and visual artist, where he realized numerous solo and group exhibitions and installations.
Georg Jenisch has been living in Berlin since 1998.
