Description

Over its more than 60 year history, IEA studies have collected a wealth of international, comparative data on the structure and functioning of education systems and how they are related to student achievement. IEA was founded at the UNESCO Institute for Education in Hamburg and experts at our IEA Hamburg office continue to be leaders in the field of international large-scale assessments in education.

Current IEA studies measure student achievement in subjects such as mathematics and science (TIMSS), reading (PIRLS), civic and citizenship education (ICCS), and computer and information literacy (ICILS). These data are freely available and IEA is committed to supporting researchers, practitioners and policy makers to make use of the valuable information to help understand and improve learning.

During this informal, meet and greet session, attendees will be introduced to some of the opportunities available for researchers interested in working with IEA data. These include workshops and training seminars held by IEA and the IERI academy, open access publishing with Springer via the IEA Research for Education Series and Large-scale Assessments in Education journal, and the IEA Compass: Briefs in Education series which connect IEA study findings to recurrent and emerging questions in education policy debates at the international and national levels.

We will also share details on how IEA supports the dissemination and communication of publications.

Attendees will have the chance to address their queries to the key people behind each of these initiatives. A light lunch will also be provided. Registration is required for catering purposes.
