Get to Move Together
Overview
Take your chance and join the Get to Move Together sessions, from September until December 2025!
During a 2-hour movement and dance gathering, you explore how you feel and how you can/desire to move. No steps or choreography to learn or execute.
A few easy-to-practice exercises support your individual abilities and expression.
Each session is unique, FREE OF CHARGE, and enhanced by a rich curated music playlist. (Any donation is still appreciated.)
Every-body* is welcome! (*Please see the FAQ for accessibility details.)
The sessions are rooted in African/West-African philosophies. People of African descent are particularly invited to participate.
There's no such thing as “having the rhythm in the skin”! In many parts of the world, communities have kept a strong connection to dance in their daily lives. An environment that often enables free physical expression and the exploration of various rhythms supports dancers' development. And it's what you are going to experience when you join Get To Move Together.
It's beginner-friendly and perfect for you if you:
- don't feel comfortable moving
- have always dreamed of “learning how to dance”
- don't find yourself in Western conventional ways of “learning to dance”
- wand to re-connect to your African roots
More about the sessions
We focus on moving, feeling and exploring. So, very few explanations will be given at the beginning and during the session. It will happen at the end, with a dedicated time for questions as well.
I start the session as soon as someone joins me in the studio. You may arrive at any time (even 15 minutes before the end!); no one is late.
It means that whenever you arrive, don't be shy and join the vibe.
You can join one or more sessions. To fully benefit from the concept, it is recommended to attend several sessions.
More about the host
As the facilitator, my role is to encourage the participants' expression.
This movement practice finds its roots mainly in West-African (Akan, Yoruba) ancestral knowledge and African contemporary dances and movement-based rituals. It is also accompanied by knowledge and rhythms from the African diaspora in Abya Yala (Cuba, Colombia, Guadeloupe).
The pedagogy, exercises and perspectives offered are all coming from and/or inspired by African and Afro-diasporic sciences, know-how and teachings.
I'm a creative, researcher and spiritualist with roots in Côte d'Ivoire and France. I work at the intersection of several disciplines and research the shared heritage between people of African descent and African people. It's a pleasure for me to share knowledge through various practices. You may find more about my work on Instagram @c.a.ml.k or my website www.caml-k.com.
Organised in collaboration with the Berlin Performing Arts Program.

How do you want to get there?
Connection time
This moment is dedicated to connect with the space, yourself and others, if wanted. You may consider it as a warm up time.
Expressive exploration time
That's the core of each session. Through a series of exercises, we explore try, observe and ENJOY how we move. It's the longest time of each session. The exploration could be done with a movement partner, if you wish.
Integration time
We slowly wrap up the session either with a few movements, a talk round, knowledge sharing through video, text or anything else. It's also the moment when I introduce what we have done, accompany by cultural references. It's also the moment for questions.
