GAMEDEVS.NRW presents:

The Beta Test of our new location

WE ARE BACK! BACK AGAIN!

YES! We finally have a new location for our community events, courtesy of our new friends, Stadtbüchereien Düsseldorf. And we are already dreaming BIG!

A simple, cozy Beta Test of our new location

BUT, before we will announce any of the BIG things we have planned for our GAMEDEVS.NRW community in the future, we will start off with a good, old fashioned Beta Test, so you and we can get used to the new environment, see what works and what can be optimized. Your classical Beta Test. Nothing fancy, just a nice, cozy Afterwork Meetup without any big program pieces.

The Location

We will have our Afterwork Meetup at the so called "Reallabor" (just ask at the counter for directions) of the Zentralbibliothek in the KAP1 building (Konrad-Adenauer-Platz 1), which is located in direct vicinity of Düsseldorf HBF. This makes this the most easy to reach meetup site ever. So it is perfect for anyone who wants to attend, no matter if you come from Düsseldorf, Cologne, the Ruhr-Region or beyond!

Also, it's right on the edge of Düsseldorf's Little Tokyo, so you could hit the local Japanese restaurants before joining us or afterwards (Takezo is open until 23:00h, for example).

NEW LOCATION, SOME CHANGES:

  1. TIMES:Because the Zentralbibliothek's opening hours differ from our previous locations, we have to switch some things around that regard. So we will have a longer initial mingling and already start with game showcases before our program part. The mingling afterwards will be shorter on the other hand. For that matter, we will test some sort of "soft-opening" starting at 16:30h for those who already want to showcase their project and have people playtest them.BONUS: Because the Zentralbibliothek is a public space, we could arrange a public showcase, so that you could have regular people playtest your games and give you unfiltered feedback.IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN SUCH A PUBLIC SHOWCASE, PLEASE REACH OUT TO ALEX (alex@gamedevs.nrw) IN ADVANCE, SO WE CAN DO THE ARRANGEMENTS AND MAKE THINGS HAPPEN

  1. DRINKS:It's back to the roots - that means "pay as you drink". Luckily, the Zentralbibliothek has a built-in cafe where you can get drinks. Or even snacks.

WANT TO GIVE A 15-MINUTE MICRO-TALK?

We may or may not have program. This depends on you, the community. If anyone of you wantes to give a micro-talk (15 minutes max), contact us.

INTERESTED? PLEASE REACH OUT TO ALEX (alex@gamedevs.nrw) IN ADVANCE

CAN'T ATTEND IN PERSON? WE MIGHT HAVE YOU COVERED!

Covered as in "live coverage". We are currently seeing if we can livestream the event. If so, you will be able to find the link to the livestream inside our Discord server .

ABOUT OUR AFTERWORK MEETUPS IN GENERAL:

No matter if you are a game designer, an artist, a programmer, a business person or something in between; no matter if you are working in a big studio, running an indie outfit, are a student, a hobbyist or someone who is just about to get started with game development and is looking for advice - you are all welcome to join us at on this Thursday evening in Düsseldorf!

Meet other people, exchange thoughts and ideas, get inspiration and inspire others!

MINGLING, SHOWCASING, CHATTING, NETWORKING:

Before and after our program part it's time for mingling. Meet people, have a chat or two. If someone brought something to show to the others, look at it. Play it. Give them feedback. And if you brought something to playtest or showcase, just set up your laptop and show it to the others. Be inspired, inspire others and just have a good time!

WHAT TO BRING:

Feel free to bring what you are working on. This community depends on exchange and inspiration! So, if you recently made a game (not matter if it is a gamejam game, a small prototype or a full-scale production), bring it along and maybe also a laptop. We have much space available for you to set up your game before and after our program part and showcase your game. Others will gladly give you feedback.

Artists, you should bring your portfolio, so you can show it to others! Maybe someone would like to work with you in the future.

THANK YOU, STADTBÜCHEREIEN DÜSSELDORF

We would also like to thank our partner, the City of Düsseldorf's Stadtbüchereien, for their support!
