Expressive Arts Circle: Marks, Movements, Memory
Overview
A whole year has passed.
Through cycles of expansion and contraction, through gifts received and absences felt, we have been quietly rearranged. What we have lived has shaped us—sometimes visibly, sometimes beneath the surface—leaving traces in our bodies, our stories, and our ways of being.
As we stand at the threshold of a new year, we are invited to pause and ask:
How do we carry this process of becoming forward?
How can we meet the new year with continuity, coherence, and care—rather than leaving parts of ourselves behind?
This Expressive Arts Circle offers a reflective and embodied space to look back at the narratives that accompanied us through the past year—the ones that supported us, the ones that challenged us, and the ones that may now be ready to shift. Through sensory, creative, and embodied practices, we will listen to what has been asking to be acknowledged, honored, or released.
Together, we will identify what has served us and find ways to consciously carry it forward. We will also gently engage with what has not served—allowing it to be transformed into new images, gestures, and stories that can bridge us into the year ahead.
This is not a goal-setting space, but a meaning-making one with depth and attention. A circle to re-story, and re-member ourselves—so that we may enter the new year more whole, more connected, and more aligned with what wants to continue unfolding.
You are welcome to come exactly as you are. No prior experience with Expressive Arts is needed—only curiosity, presence, and a willingness to listen to what is alive within you.

About The Liminal - Expressive Arts Collective
The Liminal Circle is an opportunity to connect with yourself and like-minded people, engage with different forms of arts, and find your own language through various expressions. We meet twice a month at a beautiful space next to the Spree for imaginative exploration. The Liminal Expressive Arts Collective is run by a group of expressive arts facilitators based in Berlin.
This session is led by:
Yassi Pishvaei: Artist, Expressive Arts facilitator
Vera Jonas: Musician, Expressive Arts facilitator
Our Approach
The activities offered in this circle are informed by Intermodal Expressive Arts (Paolo Knill). It is an integrative, multimodal approach that utilises a variety of methods including poetry, music, visual arts, drama, sounds, clay, movement, and nature-based methods to help individuals navigate and achieve personal growth, using their own resources.
We begin the session by sharing inquiries and tuning in. The liminal space unfolds during the creative process, as we engage in guided art activities. No habitual thinking - just full presence, imagination, play, and welcoming the unexpected. At the end of the session, we reflect and share what has arrived, along with any messages or stories that need to be told.
