6th IEEE Symposium on Joint Communications & Sensing + 1st Winterschool
Overview
The integration of communication and radio sensing in the same spectrum is likely to be one of the key features in B5G wireless systems. A joint design of both services will improve the efficiency of spectrum usage, and will offer the opportunity of providing radar as a service, just like communications today. Recent advances in mmWave communications, massive MIMO and machine learning, among others, are making this vision possible, but many technical challenges still remain, from hardware up to the application layer. Therefore, Joint Communications and Sensing (JC&S) is the subject of rapidly growing interest in the research community, and this symposium will focus on the different system and implementation aspects of this promising new approach, bringing together academic and industrial experts from both the radar and communications research communities.
After five successfull events since 2021 the JC&S comes back with another hybrid event, allowing in-person exchange for those who are able to attend in Ponte di Legno, Italy. For those unable to attend, all sessions will also be streamed online.
The Winter School on Joint Communication and Sensing (JC&S), co-located with the JCNS Symposium 2026, offers an in-depth training opportunity for graduate students, researchers, and practitioners eager to explore the fast-growing field of Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC). The program combines lectures from leading experts, hands-on training with experimental platforms, and industry and standardization insights from key players. Beyond the scientific content, the Winter School will also feature a rich social program designed to foster networking and informal exchanges.
Topics include:
- Fundamentals of radar, communications, and ISAC theory
- Hands-on SDR training
- Theoretical and practical ISAC applications
- Industry and standardization insights (Ericsson, Nokia, Bosch, ETSI/3GPP)
The Winterschool is an in person event only - not hybrid like the Symposium.
