The Anambra State Association of Manitoba (ASAM) is a vibrant cultural and community-based organization committed to uniting sons, daughters, and friends of Anambra State residing in Manitoba, Canada. We serve as a cultural bridge between our cherished homeland, Anambra State, and our new home in Manitoba.
ASAM was established to foster unity, preserve our rich Igbo heritage, and promote the social, cultural, and economic well-being of our members. We are a non-political, inclusive association that welcomes individuals and families who share a passion for Anambra’s culture, values, and community development.

To promote unity, cultural preservation, community empowerment, and mutual support among Anambra indigenes and friends in Manitoba while contributing positively to the broader Canadian society.

What We Do
ASAM organizes cultural celebrations, including our annual Anambra Cultural Day, community outreach programs, family-friendly events, youth development initiatives, and networking opportunities. Our activities reflect the spirit of Onye Aghana Nwanneya — “Do not abandon your brother or sister.”
We take pride in showcasing traditional music, folk dances, attire, cuisine, and values that define Anambra people. Through our programs, we strengthen bonds within our community while contributing meaningfully to Manitoba’s multicultural landscape.
