Talk Details
"Diversity, Equity and Inclusion - Beyond empty promises" by Jette Bakemeier - Senior Software Developer
Thoughtworks is known for their strong focus on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI). But what do those terms mean at Thoughtworks? How does DEI manifest in business and culture? And what effect does that have on the individual? We will answer these questions, talk about the DEI journey of Thoughtworks and share some of the learnings we have had so far.
About Jette Bakemeier
Jette is a Software and Infrastructure Developer at Thoughtworks. She is passionate about Diversity Equity and Inclusion, Pair Programming and the Friday beers with her colleagues at the Berlin office. Before joining Thoughtworks Jette did a coding bootcamp to kick off her career in IT.

"Agile and Anarchism" by Immo Stanke - Lead Software Developer
There are some parallels between Agile & Lean and anarchist philosophies that become obvious for many people who study both. In this talk I want to explore those parallels as well as the differences, and ultimately ask (but not necessarily answer) the question: Are Agile & Lean a way in which capitalism appropriates and absorbs pieces of anarchist practice to strengthen itself and delay radical change? Or is there a revolutionary or reformist potential in bringing anarchist practices in the disguise of Agile into the capitalists companies?
About Immo Stanke
Immo is a software developer and tech lead at Thoughtworks. They are especially passionate about communication, facilitation, growing teams and individuals and continuously learning. Immo’s favourite programming language is Clojure (though they don’t get to code much in it these days). Immo likes to discuss and think about politics and philosophy both at work and outside, because they believe the world will not be improved by any tech company, but by collectives of individuals with strong values and mutual aid (some of which might even exist within tech companies ;)).
