Each year, the transmediale and CTM festivals jointly offer one of the world's most pertinent, adventurous, and comprehensive reviews of the way new technologies and digital culture are shaping our lives.
Connect Passes allow visitors to attend CTM 2017 from 27 January – 5 February 2017, as well as the transmediale festival weekend, which runs 2-5 February at Haus der Kulturen der Welt.
transmediale’s festival program at Haus der Kulturen der Welt takes place under the scope of ever elusive – thirty years of transmediale. The festival encompasses a conference and screening program, workshops and performances. The approach taken to the anniversary is a contemporary rather than a retrospective one: ever elusive – thirty years of transmediale aims to use the critical and artistic knowledge built up over the years at the festival to reframe the question of the role of media today. In a world where technology more and more operates independently of humans, where does the power to act and to mediate lie?
A major aim of the CTM Festival since its inception has been to make space for radical forms of musical expression and dissonant emotions. Under the title FEAR ANGER LOVE, CTM 2017 will focus explicitly on such emotions found in or through music, as well to examine the diverse strategies that are applied to unleash or harness them. With special projects and commissions, performances, an intensive daytime programme, and an outlook that continues to search the fringes of current music geographies, CTM 2017 will examine the unhinging and emancipatory potential of resonant (musical) emotion to recurrently question and challenge the status quo.
The transmediale + CTM Connect Pass grants access to most CTM 2017 events and the transmediale festival program from 3 to 5 February 2017, excluding the transmediale/CTM collaborative concert, the CTM 2017 Opening Concert on 28.01. at HAU1, and others tbc. Furthermore all transmediale workshops are excluded from the pass and require registration (registration information tba).
IMPORTANT: As some CTM and transmediale festival locations have a limited capacity, access cannot always be guaranteed. We suggest you arrive on time to avoid disappointment. Access to CTM’s nighttime events cannot be granted for persons under 18 years of age.
The transmediale + CTM Connect Pass Gold grants access to all CTM 2017 events and all of transmediale 2017 excluding registration-only events. Please note that transmediale + CTM Connect Pass Gold holders must pick up separate tickets for concerts at HAU Hebbel am Ufer (HAU1) at that venue’s box office the night of each event’s presentation. Tickets may be obtained by presenting your festival pass. The box offices open one hour before each concert starts.
Access to all CTM events is guaranteed up to 15 minutes before each event’s start time, and, in the case of Berghain, up to 1 hour after doors open. As access to transmediale events cannot always be guaranteed, we suggest you arrive on time to avoid disappointment. Access to CTM’s nighttime events cannot be granted for persons under 18 years of age.
