Event description

Description

Taste the Revolution of Ethiopian Coffee

95% of Ethiopia's production is grown by smallholder farmers located high up in the mountains. It is in the Ethiopian highlands where coffee thrives best, and botanical varieties are still largely uncharted. Until recently, the smallholder’s coffee was blended and lost its identity before reaching the consumer, resulting in lower prices for the producers. However, new regulations within the Ethiopian market allow for increased traceability and transparency, enabling direct trade and benefitting the smallholders of Ethiopia. This is a milstone in Ethiopian quality coffee.

Therefor, Trabocca is launching the first Operation Cherry Red Auction, where this year’s best Ethiopian coffees will be directly auctioned to coffee roasters world-wide. On April 23th and 24th, an all-star international jury of 11 coffee professionals – including head-judge Anette Moldvaer (Square Mile Coffee Roasters), Rubens Gardelli (Gardelli Specialty Coffee) and Kentaro Maruyama (Maruyama Coffee) – cupped at Trabocca’s headquarters in Amsterdam and made a final selection of the Operation Cherry Red Auction lots that will be auctioned on the 31st of May.

We offer you the rare possibility to taste these outstanding auction coffees during this event at the Bonanza Roastery in Berlin Kreuzberg.

Both tastings will be hosted by Constantin Hoppenz, former green coffee buyer of Bonanza and World Brewers Cup Finalist 2017.

Tickets are limited.
