Open Printmaking Workshop - Etching

Every Wednesday, we are opening the doors of the studio for amateur and professional printmakers to work on independent project with the assistance of a professional printmaker.

from 4:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

How does it work?

Open workshop invite you to purchase ONE Printing session of approx. 4-5 hours studio time.

Work on dry-point engravings, try out some new non-toxic soft grounds or pursue an ongoing project. Everything is possible!

If more assistance is needed, we can arrange for Accompanied Work with the workshop instructor at an hourly rate.

All you need to know:

• You are required to have knowledge and experience with etching techniques (line and aquatint) and basic drawing skills - the participants must know how to work independently with the support of a printmaking assistant present at all time.

• All materials are provided by the workshop (tools, acids, solvents and inks) except Zinc/Copper/PVC plates and printing paper - both can be purchased from the course Instructor

• Feel free to bring drawing utensils, sketches, and drafts or anything that is needed for your personal project.

Etching involves the use of a press, mordants, acids, solvent and other chemical materials - this should not be taken lightly —>> After the first work session, if the participant needs more assistance and shows signs of lack of knowledge or inexperience, for the safety of the participant and the workshop, the instructor is entitled to require from the participant to attend a course before joining the Open Workshop again.
