ZUKUNFT GESTALTEN IM OCEAN FUTURE LAB

Die Ozeane liefern Sauerstoff zum Atmen sowie Nahrung für mehr als ein Drittel der Menschheit. Sie bieten Arbeit und Erholung, sind sowohl Sehnsuchtsort als auch artenreiche, faszinierende Lebenswelten, sie regulieren das Klima und bremsen die menschengemachte Erwärmung der Erde. Die Zukunft der Menschheit ist unmittelbar mit dem Schicksal der Ozeane verknüpft.Jedoch schaffen Klimawandel, Verschmutzung und Übernutzung immer größere Probleme für die marinen Lebensräume und stellen uns vor die Frage: Wie können wir mit den Küsten, Meeren und Ozeanen so nachhaltig umgehen, dass wir unsere natürlichen Lebensgrundlagen erhalten?

Wie wollen wir mit den Meeren leben?

Das Projekt Ocean Future Lab greift diese Frage auf und lädt alle Interessierten dazu ein, Ideen und Impulse für eine wünschenswerte Zukunft unseres blauen Planeten zu entwickeln. Das Ocean Future Lab ist ein Projekt des „Wissenschaftsjahres 2022 – Nachgefragt!“ und wird vom Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung gefördert. Partner sind die Deutsche Allianz Meeresforschung, das Institute for Art and Innovation sowie das Deutsche Meeresmuseum und das Deutsche Schifffahrtsmuseum.Unsere Online-Workshops

In unseren Online-Workshops geht es um kreatives Zukunftsdenken. Bürger:innen, Künstler:innen und Wissenschaftler:innen entwickeln gemeinsam Ideen für die Welt von morgen. Dazu nutzen wir eine Online-Arbeitsfläche, auf der wir Szenarien für das Jahr 2050 entwickeln. Anstatt die Zukunft vorherzusagen, ermöglicht das Zukunftsdenken eine offene Diskussion, um die Zukunft als Chance zu begreifen, die wir bewusst und selbstbestimmt mitgestalten können.

The sustainable use of coasts, seas and oceans is a social challenge that concerns us all. The Ocean Future Lab offers space for the co-creative and inspiring design of future scenarios for oceans and people. Citizens are invited to develop and visualize ideas for the future and possible courses of action in exchange with artists and scientists.

We work with modified methods from world building, design thinking, re-gnosis and future prototyping. Because “future thinking” plays a central role, the Ocean Future Lab wants to negotiate both the world we live in today and the world of tomorrow. Rather than predicting the future, future thinking allows for open discussion to determine preferred and desirable futures.

Scenes for the future are developed based on a scenographically designed online play area. Extensively researched archives provide knowledge about existing solutions as well as inspiration for acting characters and explored film locations.

Through co-creative collaboration, we want to create synergies and expand the scope and impact of ideas. The participants work across sectors, disciplines, cultures and generations in cooperation with an interdisciplinary and multicultural network.

The Ocean Future Lab is a project of the “Science Year 2022 – Participate!” and is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. Partners are the German Marine Research Alliance, the Institute for Art and Innovation, the German Maritime Museum in Stralsund and the German Maritime Museum in Bremerhaven.
