Negotiating our future: Experiences from past climate COPs

Every year since 1995, strategies and policies to combat climate change have been discussed at the Conference of the Parties (COP). But what is it actually like to take part in such a conference yourself? In this webinar we will listen to individual experiences from past COPs and answer all your questions around COP.

Speakers:

• Fernando Farias, PhD, UNEP DTU Partnership. Fernando has +10 years of experience attending COPs in his former role as country negotiator (Chile) and currently working with countries to develop and implement their climate transparency frameworks. At UNEP DTU Partnership he is a Senior Advisor in climate change mitigation and nominated by the ipcc as a lead -author of the forthcoming sixth IPCC Assessment Report (mitigation volume)

• NEW SPEAKER: Mark Robinson, UK Youth Climate Coalition. Mark has been organising with UKYCC since Summer 2017. He has been to two COPs - COP23 in Bonn and COP24 in Katowice - where he learnt a great deal about the activity taking place both inside and outside the negotiations. Mark has mainly been involved in civil society activism at COP, so hopes to share his thoughts on how this can be a positive - if not sometimes frustrating! - experience.
