Förderverein Naturpark Barnim e.V.: This award-winning NGO runs a number of on-the-ground projects to protect wildlife and natural habitats around Nonnenfließ.

• Meeting location: Bahnhof Eberswalde, 40 mins north of Berlin (by regional train)
• Distance & duration: 16 km walking, 7 hours from start to closing, multiple break times
• Language: English - Community language is predominantly English, but also some German.
• Difficulty: Intermediate – walking along marked paths / dirt roads, mostly flat terrain, relaxed pace

WHY SHOULD YOU GO?

Our adventure will take us along the small but beautiful river Nonnenfließ north east of Berlin. Formed over 10.000 years ago by melting glaciers it meanders through a scenic landscape in a deeply carved valley. It's only a 40 minute train ride north of Berlin, making it the perfect day trip getaway from the city's hustling.

Our trail follows the creek through alder and beech forests. During our hike along the valley we will take a lunch break at a small hut to recharge our batteries. Please bring your own food and drinks since there is no opportunity to buy them. Our hike takes us to the small village of Melchow. Here we’ll celebrate our achievement and reminisce about the day’s community experience with drinks and food in the local restaurant Melchower Krug.

• Start the adventure: Once we’re there, we kick off our trip with a short round of introductions so that you get to know each other. Then we start exploring together.

Free cancellation up to 5 full days before the day of the trip. After that, cancel up to 48 hours before the trip to get a 50% refund. The trip is not dependent on favorable weather conditions (i.e. goes ahead as scheduled also when it rains). If the event is cancelled on our end, you will get a full refund.
