*Dr. Christoph Grote has been SVP Research, Advanced Technologies and Innovation at BMW since 2014 with offices in Munich, Mountain View, CA, Tokio and Shanghai. In this role, he directs BMW’s research and advanced development activities across all subject areas and holds overall budget responsibility. Christoph coordinates the transfer of research results into series products, manages collaborations with universities worldwide, and oversees activities targeted at the transfer of non-automotive technologies to the car. In addition, he coordinates BMW’s external strategic research partnerships in the context of powertrain technology, digization and automation. After studying at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität in Heidelberg Christoph obtained his PhD in Physics from the University of Cambridge, UK. He joined BMW in 1997 and started his career with their inhouse-consultancy. From 1999, he assumed responsibility for diverse subject areas: Platform management, HVAC, on-board network, batteries, fuel cell technology as well as the cockpit. From 2004, he managed the series development of information and communication systems as a VP. In 2009, he was appointed as VP of strategy and innovation within the development division, and became head of BMW Research and Technology in 2011. In 2016, he was appointed as VP Electronics.


*Prof. Dr. Tobias Kollmann is a chaired professor of E-Business and E-Entrepreneurship at the University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany. Since 1996 he has addressed research questions in the fields of the Internet, E-business, and E-commerce. As a co-founder of AutoScout24, he is among the pioneers of the German internet economy and electronic marketplaces. He is the author of numerous books and practice-based and expert articles in the areas of E-entrepreneurship, E-business, and acceptance/marketing in new media. As a business angel, he has supported and financed several start-ups over the past 15 years and was recognized as Business Angel of the Year by the Business Angels Network Germany e.V. in 2012. Since 2013, he has been the head of the advisory board Emerging Net Economy for the German Federal Ministry of Economics. In 2014, Germany’s largest federal state, North Rhine-Westphalia appointed him its representative on issues of the Net Economy. Against this background he has become a popular speaker on topics with regard to the digital economy, digital transformation and digital change. According to the Business Punk journal (2nd edition 2014) he ranks among the 50 most important leaders of the start-up scene in Germany.
