Jeff Gothelf at #PoDojo: Lean UX in the Enterprise
Agility through cross-functional collaboration
Full Day Workshop with Jeff Gothelf, author of the book Lean UX
The #PoDojo is the “place of the way” to practice how to make an impact by solving real problems of customers. We help you help others build products customers love. That’s why we invited Jeff Gothelf, author of the book “Lean UX”, to give this 1-day training workshop to share his insights about “Lean UX in the Enterprise“.
Products that meet customer needs and help our businesses win
The world of software has become continuous. New delivery capabilities like continuous deployment and integration have enabled channels like app stores and the web to provide us with an unprecedented feedback loop. Every time we launch software we can take advantage of this continuous learning cycle to understand who is using our products and services, what they’re doing with them and how we’re meeting their expectations and our business goals. Combined with techniques born out of user experience and design, we have an unprecedented opportunity to build products that truly meet customer needs and help our businesses win.
Why you should attend?
Since the idea first percolated in 2010 through to its current state as a permanent hashtag on Twitter, Lean UX has created a new way of looking at how we design products and services. Equally as important, it has created a new way to look at working together with our colleagues in product management, software engineering, marketing and executive leadership. This new continuous reality fundamentally changes the way we discover and create new products and services.
The old waterfall ways of software development are dead. The new way is a collaborative, continuous cycle of concepting, delivering, learning and iterating. The only way to truly harness the benefits of this new reality is in a collaborative, cross-functional team that bases its decisions on evidence from the market gained through experimentation and hypothesis.
Jeff Gothelf is an expert in teaching teams how to work in this collaborative fashion and has captured these ideas in his book, Lean UX: Applying lean methods to improve user experience.
Who should attend?
Product leaders like CEO’s and General Managers, VP’s and Directors of Product, VP’s and Directors of UX, CTO’s and VP’s of Engineering. These folks take the learnings back to their teams. Alternatively, these same organizations send colleagues new to their product teams to get this training in preparation for joining the team. There’s a great interest in Lean UX, so don’t hesitate to reserve your seats.
What you will learn?
In this fun, high-energy and hands-on workshop, Jeff will teach you and your teams:
How adopting lean principles increases the amount your team learns
How basing your product ideas on assumptions, rather than requirements, gets you to a faster product/market fit
Why focusing on achieving outcomes is far more successful than focusing on features
How to write hypotheses based on our assumptions
How to structure experiments to test those hypotheses and take advantage of our continuous reality
How to work cross-functionally to bring engineering, design and product management together in an agile way
How to incorporate this culture of learning in your organization – enterprise, mid-size or startup
Every attendee of the workshop gets a free copy of Jeff’s book.

What people are saying about Jeff’s workshop:
“You kept it real – loved the presentation style and the content has the potential to dramatically improve the way [we] develop products.” — Recent workshop participant
“Jeff’s workshop…not only made a whole lot of sense, it gave me a great way of thinking about how to fit rigorous, customer-centered user experience practice into tight spaces.” – Dan Turner
“I found the workshop extremely beneficial on both a personal and a team level. I really enjoyed how the day was broken down into pockets of lecturing and group activities to practice the lessons discussed. Even having read Jeff’s book, practicing the exercises within the team made It clear how beneficial the approach can be.”
“Overall I throughly enjoyed everything about the course, I was expecting it to be more design based as I must admit I had never come across Lean UX before.”
“I found the Lean UX workshop really helpful. It made a refreshing change to hear some opinions from an experienced external source of how we can make agile work in ways other than how we already are. The contrast between the formulation of assumptions and experiments to our usual story generation and QA testing gave a valuable insight into how we can decide on our MVP, and refine how we define our priorities when scoping out work. The time spent was well worth it.”
