Event Details

Despite the young history of distributed ledger technologies, Switzerland has brought forth a number of reputable token-based projects. Yet while the local community has made significant progress on legal matters surrounding DLT, there is still little expertise in constructing sustainable DLT networks from a systems and cryptoeconomic perspective.

Over the past 2 years, a global community now present in over 10 countries has started creating an entirely new engineering and design discipline for technology-enabled economic systems: Token Engineering.

Academic researchers have begun creating promising theoretical foundations for Token Engineering. Startups, corporations and investors are realizing that projects built on scientific principles and established engineering practices have the highest chance of creating sustainable, real-world value.

Token Engineering Switzerland is the Swiss chapter of the global Token Engineering movement. Our mission is to cultivate an awareness of the emerging professional discipline of Token Engineering in Switzerland, and to connect academics, practitioners and investors during local events.

We invite anybody curious about this emerging design science for “cyber-physical” systems to join our launch event!

  • from 8:00pm:  Opportunity for Networking

  • Moritz Kaminski works at Bosch Digital Solutions where he implements business models for decentral platforms in collaboration with industry partners and self-sovereign identity services for the "Economy of Things". Previously, Moritz worked in strategy consulting and four years as investment manager at a venture capital fund. Together with a team he invested in early stage startups in the ICT industry, supported in business development and served on the supervisory board. He holds a Masters Degree in Banking and Finance from the University of St. Gallen.

  • Jonathan Gabler leads BlockScience‘s business operations in Europe and Asia. He has been deeply involved with building the Token Engineering Community through his work on the open-source system simulation library cadCAD. In previous roles, he worked at McKinsey and served on the Board of Directors of a Swiss Energy Technology company. He holds a Masters Degree in Strategy and International Management from the University of St. Gallen.

  • Sebnem Rusitschka leads the energy committee at the German Blockchain Association. Her company Freeelio is a venture to find new business models for disruptive technologies in Energy. She founded Freeelio after a decade of applied research at Siemens, where her focus areas evolved from P2P computing, to machine learning, to smart embedded systems – mainly in the domain of decentralized energy systems. Since 2018, Sebnem has been developing concepts of tokenizing energy to be deployed via

  • Professor Claudio Tessone is Assistant Professor for Network Science at the University of Zurich (Faculty of Economics, Business and Informatics). He is co-founder and member of the Steering Committee of the UZH Blockchain Center. He holds a Masters and PhD in Physics (on to the role of heterogeneity in complex systems) and a habilitation on "Complex socio-economic systems" from ETH Zurich. Claudio has an ongoing interest in the modelling of socio-economic systems by recourse of network science and complex systems approaches.

  • Dr. Marcus Dapp is a PostDoc researcher and Lecturer at the Chair for Computational Social Science at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich. Marcus is researching how the decentralized web can help create new incentive systems in peer-to-peer economic networks with a more sustainable twist -- in other words a new economic system with sustainability built-in. His research interests range from cryptoeconomics and token economies to new ways of governance and self-organizing decentralized autonomous organizations.

  • Ralf Kubli is Director at CV VC
