Julián Restrepo was born in Bogotá, Colombia, in 1987.

Since 2008 he lives in Germany, the country where he came to continue his musical studies. Julián Restrepo studied at the International Guitar Academy in Koblenz and later at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln in the class of Professor Hubert Käppels. He then studied at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich in the class of Professor Franz Halász.

During his studies he has attended numerous master classes with Elliot Fisk, Pepe Romero, Evangelina Mascardi, Pavel Steidl, Álvaro Pierri, Xavier Coépe, Eduardo Fernández, Kristin von der Golz and José Miguel Moreno, among others.
