Hamburg’s Impact Ecosystem Update 2021

Do you wonder why solving a given problem can be complex, and time consuming? Often is the case that problems are addressed from a linear approach, instead of applying a systems thinking view.

This applies to the global challenges we face as humanity, as well as locally in Hamburg (eg, climate change, societal equity).

In this workshop, we would like to take on the journey of systems thinking, starting with the mapping of the Impact ecosystem in Hamburg.

Systems thinking is an innovation tool aimed to address complex systems problems. In essence, it can help us to:

1. Obtaining data about the system by researching and mapping the relevant stakeholders
2. Mapping cause and effect in the system to gain insights about what is enabling or inhibiting the progress we would like to see
3. Identifying points of leverage in the system as opportunities where interventions may have relevant effects
4. Experimenting with solutions to see if the desired outcomes are created
