About this event
Writing a great job application can feel like an enormous task, especially when we rarely get real feedback. Are you struggling to write a resume that stands out and follows the German format? Do you feel like cover letters are a great mystery - or even a waste of time? Forget application handbooks, career blogs, and consulting resume writers and learn to write your own great application with a simple and straightforward method that you can reuse every time to consistently write great job applications and get noticed. In these four short sessions, we'll focus on how to write a fantastic job application tailored for your dream job. You can attend all four sessions or pick and choose. In these sessions, you'll not only learn how to write a better application, but also start writing it live. Give yourself the gift of setting aside a few hours to improve your application and get where you want to go!
Session One The Red Thread: Storytelling Basics
In this session, we'll build the foundations for a great application. What are you great at? Where are your strengths? How can you best market your strengths in a way that resonates in the German job market? We'll find the all-important red thread in your experiences and put together your profile toolkit which you'll use to create your CV and cover letter.
Session Two Creating A Great CV (for Germany)
In the second session of the series, we'll learn how to format your CV for the German job market. You'll learn which templates and resume creation tools actually work for the German job market (and which to avoid), and we'll go over what to put and what to leave out. You'll learn how to present your experiences effectively for the German job market.
Session Three Your Pitch: Writing A Great Cover Letter
The third session of the series focuses on the cover letter - or unsolicited application pitch. Yes, you do need a cover letter - especially in Germany. Learn why it is, in fact, an extremely useful tool, and how to write a cover letter that opens doors. We'll learn a simple method for writing the cover letter that will have you creating outstanding pitches for each new application.
Session Four Making an Impact & Finding Better Job Leads
Finding a job to apply for can be challenging, and sometimes it feels a bit frustrating. We'll learn how to find jobs, how to identify what you're qualified for, and how and when to approach organizations that you're interested in that don't have a job posting.
Bonus Info Session: The German Language (TBD)
In this open info session, we'll talk about the German language requirements for the job market and what you really need to know to succeed in Germany.
