FLINTA Hamam nights ~ let's rest together

By Connecing Passions & Charming Theys

Overview

let`'s come together for an evening of rest, connection & care, cleansing, nurturing, miauing each other on one Thursday each month <3

We deserve to rest. To take moments to unwind. To come together, to offer and receive care. To let go, wash it of, sweat it out & simply breatheeee. ✨

And, sometimes it can be helpful to put that damn self-care into the calendar, to go with others from a similar bubble, and it can be another cute way to get to know other FLINTA caring creatures <3

What will we do?

You can arrive from 5 pm and take a moment to arrive for yourself, before we gather at 6.30 pm to share a tea and snacks each of us brought.

Then momo & sıla will facilitate an opening with a short body-scan-meditation, a check-in in small groups with who we are, what we are feeling and how we desire the evening to look and feel like - and an intro into hamam culture.

We then can decide if we want to spend time together in the Hamam, offering care to each other like soft massages, touch, washing each other, holding hands, brushing each other's hair, scrubbing, or just leaning on each others shoulder for a moment.

Consent is key in each interaction - seggsual practices nor kissing are welcome at the Hamam (pls go to ClubSauna instead :)).

Who is this event for?

All FLINTAs are welcome, no matter how you present.

Every Tuesday and Thursday from 5 pm the Hamam officially welcomes all Women, Lesbians, Inter, Non-Binary, Trans & Agender peeps. Trans includes trans-mascs & trans-fems and anyone genderbending!

Some parts of the website and some signs are still outdated using only the term “women”- but it is the clear wish of the new management to be a diverse FLINTA Hamam on these two evenings of the week.

In case you feel nervous, you will not be alone upon arrival. If you experience any form of discrimination, inappropriate comments or weird looks please come to us or the people working at the Hamam - while of course hoping that this will not happen, as FLINTA nights have been established for some time now, but we won`t be the only guests there.

Who are the facilitators & why are we organizing this?

heyy everyone - i’m excited to be co-facilitating the hamam nights with momo

i’m sıla (sıla/her) – a queer & ND PoC who loves to create spaces where people can arrive as themselves - tender and unfiltered. through my work as a systemic therapist (i.A.) and political educator, I’m drawn to circles that hold both care and critique - always curious about how we relate to each other and ourselves.

growing up around the hamam, i remember it as a site of warmth, vulnerability, and connection that to this day remains a place of belonging for me.

at the same time, I am aware that hamams have often been misrepresented: sexualized in Orientalist fantasies, or packaged as luxury experiences, stripped of their social and communal essence.

my intent for the flinta* hamam nights is to gather like back then — not in nostalgia, but in reclamation. to honor the histories, the labor, and the everyday intimacies that made (and still make!) the hamam a place of social life. to sit with both critique and care, and to reimagine this space together as one of grounding connection, embodied healing, and collective rest

Heyy :) my name is momo (momo/they) - I am agender, white, queer, neurodivergent and a very passionate event organizer in and around Berlin. I love to bring people together who have similar interests - in Charming Theys Dating events, Lemonade Queers sober partys, Naked Tea Party festivals, educational workshops, Co-coachings - and now also in the Hamam!

My relationship to rest is a bumpy journey with me often struggling to do the things my body loveees as i want to be spontaneous but then there are often other “more” important things. A few years ago I discovered the book “Rest is Resistance” by Tricia Hersey, which became one of my fav books ever. I will bring a copy to the Hamam and you can have a read if you want.

I have no personal connection to Hamam traditions and hence i´´m very happi to collaborate with sıla. My intention is to gather regularly in a relaxing space to rest, sweat, unwind, take a break, together - and be able to offer that for an affordable price.

A lot of information websites and also the Hamam website use words like “oriental” or “Middle East” which I try to avoid as I see it as colonial language. Please inform yourself why <3

Contribution & Costs

The entrance fee for the Hamam is 15€ per person, to be paid upon arrival to the Hamam. It allows entrance from 5 - 10 pm. In addition we ask for a donation for tea+, organizing and facilitating between 5 - 10 - 15 Euros paid here in advance to reserve your spot.

Important: You need to reserve a ticket here before 3pm otherwise you have to pay the usual entrance ticket price which is 25€ for 3 hours + donation (possible if spots are sold out!)

There are 2 half price spots for those who can not afford access to this form of rest otherwise, prioritizing BIPOC (activists). Please only select that ticket if not otherwise possible for you to join. It means to pay 7,5€ to the Hamam and 0 to us. Please write to us if it is only possible for you to join if it is 0€ - and please cancel if you can not make it anymore!

& You can also book professional treatments at the Hamam in advance or upon arrival (depending on availability).
