Double Doomster Night
On this special evening, we'll be diving into our fear of societal collapse and possible human extinction with a talk by charismatic Deep Adaption co-founder, professor of sustainability and doomster Jem Bendell followed by a screening of Berlin-based journalist and filmmaker's Ben Knight's new documentary, "We're All Going to Die".
The event will take place in English.
+++ Jem Bendell ,"The Doomster Way" +++
Jem wrote a paper in 2018 called Deep Adaptation, which argued that climate breakdown was much, much worse than climate scientists were admitting publicly, and the potential for systemic failure was much bigger than anyone was recognizing - he believes food chain collapse is inevitable in our lifetimes.
Jem has a new book out this year: "Breaking Together: A freedom loving response to collapse".

Jem's Talk: People around the world are dramatically changing their lives to prioritise creativity and social contribution. They are worrying less about their career, their financial security or following the latest trend. They are helping those in need, growing food, making music, campaigning for change and exploring spiritual paths.
Why is it happening? Because they have rejected the establishment's view of reality and no longer expect members of the establishment to solve any of the worsening problems in society. After decades of greed, hypocrisy, lies, corruption and stupid policies, they are no longer waiting for any elites to rescue anyone, let alone the planet. But they are no longer upset, numb or despairing.
They are living life more fully, according to what they value. It is precisely because these people regard modern societies to be breaking down, that they are living more freely. They need neither an underground bunker nor a fairytale of a better tomorrow as they are living for love, truth and beauty today.
Who are they? I call them doomsters. I am one of them. Perhaps you are too? In this short talk I will give some examples of the many forms of doomster life, around the world, what psychology tells us about this phenomenon, and the extent to which we might become a force for positive social change in an era of societal collapse. I'll also explain why members and wannabes of the establishment now fear us enough to lie about, censor, and even criminalise us.

+++ We're All Going to Die - A Film by Ben Knight +++
Followed by a special screening of Berlin journalist Ben Knight's new documentary grappling with the psychological and emotional impact of the possibility of civilisational collapse.
Ben travels from Berlin to London to Kansas to Norway, and then to the centre of all loss, the Chicxulub crater in Mexico, learning from those preparing for social and ecological collapse. Call them preppers, doomers, or bunker-dwellers, the collapse community turns out to be bigger than he thinks.
What does Ben learn? Where does he go? And is peace even possible in the crater of someone else’s extinction?
