Fairytale Forest: Hike through the mystical landscape of Briesetal

• Location: Starting in Zühlsdorf (40 mins north of Berlin by train), closing in Borgsdorf (S-Bahn)

• Distance & duration: 13 km walking, 7 hours from start to closing, multiple break times

• Difficulty: Easy – walking on marked paths / dirt roads, mostly flat terrain, relaxed pace

• Language: Community languages are English and German

WHY SHOULD YOU GO?

The Briesetal is one of Brandenburgs most scenic valleys, formed by river Briese. The quiet nature preservation area is home to mischievous beavers whose dams created a sunken birch forest. The valley is still dominated by unspoilt nature, seemingly untouched by humans. It's only a 40 minute train ride north of Berlin, making it the perfect day trip getaway from the city's hustling.

Following the meandering river we traverse the mystical forest, walk on wooden planks through moors and marshes and explore natural habitats and endemic wildlife.During our hike along the valley we will take a lunch break at the charming beergarden Briesekrug to recharge our batteries. There is also plenty of opportunity for swimming and a picnic at a small but wonderfully refreshing lake nearby.

The trip is not dependent on favorable weather conditions (i.e. goes ahead as scheduled also when it rains). If the event is cancelled on our end, you will get a full refund.
