What is Equinox?

Equinox marks the day where night and day light hours are nearly equal, this happens twice per year, e.g. on 20.03.2023. Between Winter and Summer Solstice the Spring Equinox marks a day for celebrating fresh starts. We want to honor natures cycles & our traditions.

What are our guidelines?

Please be on time.  Respect boundaries and practice consent. Also when you want to take photos or videos, be mindful! 
Do not assume pronouns.
No drugs including no alcohol. 
If possible, leave your phone in airplanemode with your belongings during the ceremony.

Who is in the team & what is your approach?

We are 11 creatures with different experiences and passions, and yet similar views on life. We believe that we are all connected somehow, so social justice perspective matters to us as well as our connection to our surrounding & ourselves.

Why Extravaganza?

Accepted Answer

The name came up because momo likes alliterations and felt the extra large space and our beautiful quirky splashy queer energies. I know that it was also inspired by Patrick Masons frequently used slogan “your techno extravaganza” and their very unique energy.

What is the House of Extravaganza?

I also started to research and read about the “House of Xtravaganza” that emerged from the underground ballroom scene in 1982 in New York, which was composed primarily of African American and Latino LGBTQ people.

Credits for the House of Extravaganza

We want to acknowledge this movement and honor all the work of recognition these Black Indigenous People of Color (BIPoC) have done for all of us to. Who is it for & how many will we be?

We will make 88 tickets available and will be a team of 11 people ~ so a maximum of 99 luftballons are coming together.

It is open for any queer-aware and respectful creature towards others with the slogan “queers to the front” (yes inspired by Lllecken :))

Question 8

Do I have to come tested?

Accepted Answer

We have risk patients within our community and hence ask everyone to come tested. Self-tests are okay. 
Please do not come if you have sickness symptoms, last minute ticket refunds are possible until 24 hours before the event. 
You are welcome to wear a mask and/or keep your distance.

Accessibility

The Genezareth Church and the TERZ toilet is wheelchair accessible.  We are aware of neurodiversity and invite everyone to take breaks whenever needed, either at the ground-level Cozy Care Corner or upstairs. Please write to us regarding concerns or needs.

What is the cozy care corner?

Accepted Answer

From 5 to 6  pm you can visit our Cozy Care Corner and pick a Tarot Card or Oracle Card after asking a specific question for the upcoming cycle. Once the ceremony starts it intends to be a "i want to hang out or need a break place".

Why this church?

Momo fell in love with the space last September during another ceremony, with the roundness, the spaciousness, the color-theme, the chill out areas and recognized the accessibility. And, surprise, now we are offering our own ceremony~celebration there on the most beautiful date I could imagine :-)

Do I have to be religious in order to attend the event?

Accepted Answer

No one needs to be religious in any way to join this event. Though it is possible that the location triggers something in you, depending on your past and relationship to churches and similar institutions.

How does the church define themselves?

Accepted Answer

“We open the place for artistic and spiritual experiences as well as for social and socio-political projects. Together we promote self-organised coexistence in the neighbourhood and create cultural and spiritual free spaces. We are an alternative meeting place. We belong to the Protestant Church."

What spirituality do you practice?

Accepted Answer

To feel connected to ourselves, others and natural cycles. In this case we celebrate Equinox and the start of the spring and set our intention for this cycle. We will use tools such as meditation, music, voicing, movement to connect to ourselves and also others in the space.

What about cultural appropriation?

Accepted Answer

We aim at not using inappropriate or unacknowledged elements of other cultures in our ceremony~celebration. We will burn local herbs.
We will sing English and Spanish songs or songs that are introduced by Roberto who studied the Path of Camino Rojo with Indigenious Practicioners.

What if "I can't sing?"?

You don’t have to :-) But you can, you are invited to try it out. This is not a choir, this is not about perfectionism, this is about playing around with our voices! 
At any time you can step out and just observe the scene and then re-enter again.

What if I can't afford the ticket?

Please write to momo@connectingpassions.de - we know not everyone is privileged enough to buy tickets for these kind of events. You are still welcome <3

Question 19

What is the cancelation policy?

Accepted Answer

If you know that you can not come please cancel your ticket as soon as possible so someone else can buy that ticket. In case of something unforseeable you can cancel until 24 hours before the event. Please do this only in case of emergency or sudden sickness. There is no refund 24 hour before.

What shall I bring to the event?

Please bring your negative covid test, a candle in a glass without scent, something for the altar like a flower or plant in a pot (for sustainability purposes), snacks & alcohol-free drinks  and  wear anything that helps you to feel extravagant and comfortable (eg warm socks)

No Garderobe

We are not liable for any belongings and will not have a Garderobe/cloakroom.

dresscode

Please wear anything you feel like wearing that day without cultural appropriation aspects in it. This can be super extravagant, spacious, sparkly or also just super chill. We will take off our shoes at the entrance.

who are queers & allies?

queer = a person whose sexual orientation or gender identity falls outside the heterosexual mainstream or the gender binary. ally = An ally is someone that aligns with and supports a cause with another individual or group of people.

photos & videos

Accepted Answer

We wish to take photos and videos during the event, some of it we wish to use for social media. We will ask you at the entrance about this and send the photos around before we will publish them. We are mindful about what we post and what we take photos off.
