Beschreibung des Events

Beschreibung

Until now probably everybody noticed that blockchain is way more than ‘just’ Bitcoin. While Bitcoin was designed as digital cash, new decentralized platforms are emerging. At this Event, the basic concepts of different blockchain architectures will be introduced.

EOS is an open blockchain and is aiming to become a decentralized operating system which can support industrial-scale decentralized applications, aiming to process thousands of transactions per second. Ian Grigg, Chief Architect at Chamapesa, will give an introduction into the governance of EOS, explaining how EOS is the first self-governed blockchain, and why this is essential.

Eva Stöwe, governance architect at Chamapesa, and Ian Grigg will give an introduction to the Chamapesa project, with a deep dive into how identity is handled. Chamapesa is a blockchain-based savings app created to give people the tools to take control over their own finances in a transparent, accountable and reliable way.

Iconiq Lab is a Decentralized VC Club and Initial Coin Offer Accelerator. We empower a community of ICO participants to leverage our due diligence and development procedures to chose which real-world, sustainable business solutions graduating our accelerator program they wish to participate in the ICO of through the ICNQ token. Iconiq Lab is a portfolio company and strategic partner of FinLab AG, a German publicly traded Fintech investor and company builder.

Vreo is developing digital advertising solutions that not only address current issues of in-game advertising, but also strive to consolidate brands, developers, and gamers with mechanisms that ensure a fair distribution of advertising benefits. Vreo supplies game developers and publishers with plugins and algorithms for numerous game engines that greatly facilitate the dynamic placing of embedded ads on various platforms. In contrast to a traditional in-game promotion like pop-ups, embedded ads blend in with the games’ environment without disturbing the players' experience.

The Blockchain & Crypto Initiative and the Frankfurt School Blockchain Center are looking forward to welcoming you and give you the unique opportunity to meet Ian Grigg and Eva Stöwe and discuss your questions with them.

SPEAKERS

Eva Stöwe is Governance Architect at Chamapesa and is one of the governance team in the open community blockchain EOS. She joined CACert five years ago and quickly became the most active arbitrator and is heavily involved in governance of associations. Her academic background is in law and Computer Science, and previous to joining chamapesa worked as a programmer at several large German companies.

Ian Grigg is one of the earliest pioneers in financial cryptography. In 1995 he built one of the first cryptographically secured systems to issue or trade any kind of asset. He created the Ricardian Contract, a secure approach to registering the intent of a legal agreement in a system like a work of software, and also co-invented triple-entry accounting, an early form of distributed ledger. He has said that many of the most influential ideas in the industry were first conceived in those times:

“Shared ledgers, triple entry, proof of work, smart contracts, social reputation systems… all had their airing in the 1990s. Yet we were all independently “too early” which is basically a poor excuse for not quite cracking the problem.”

Ian has recently worked with R3, the bank-driven consortium that aims to bring blockchain technology to finance, and block.one, the founder of smart contract platform EOS, which raised $700 million in one of the largest coin sales in 2017.

Patrick Lowry, Managing Partner & CEO Iconiq Lab: Venture Capitalist and investor with 8 years of financial industry experience. PwC auditor and startup co-founder/CFO with an MBA, CPA license and a BS in finance and accounting.

Andreas Schemm, CEO vreo.io: Thanks to his many years of working in executive positions in a few companies placed in the high-tech and entertainment scene, Andreas has gathered a substantial amount of experience founding and establishing startups as well as running multiple subsidiaries and overseeing a franchising chain. Through the years this accumulated into a huge business network through all branches – for example, marketing, game developers, food and beverage and sciences. After establishing LaserTag into the German market, where he oversaw the PR, HR and marketing efforts for up to 14 sites, Andreas founded Project: Gateway and Vreo, where he worked on the development of tech demos and other solutions for VR. One development was part of the public reveal of the Razer OSVR at E3 and another VR exhibit for electromobility, commissioned by the German ministry of innovation, is currently touring trade shows. After being funded by Hessen Kapital, he switched his focus to Vreo, an in-game advertising solution secured through Blockchain technology.

The Frankfurt School Blockchain Center is a think tank and research center which investigates implications of the blockchain technology for companies and their business models. Besides the development of prototypes, it serves as a platform for managers, start-ups, technology and industry experts to share knowledge and best practices.

The Blockchain & Crypto Initiative (“BCI”) is a platform for scientific exchange about blockchain technology at the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management in cooperation with the Frankfurt School Blockchain Center. The mission of BCI is to foster and disseminate knowledge about blockchain and distributed ledger initiatives among young people and students. This initiative is open for everybody who already has a background in blockchain technology or who, for example, trades crypto assets. To attract more attention to emerging distributed ledger technologies we invite blockchain experts from leading blockchain companies to share their insights in regular meet-ups and, also, to conduct up-to-date research.
