In 2010, the European Commission identified in its Innovation Union Initiative, Social Entrepreneurship (SE) and Social Innovation (SI) as an important way to address social needs and challenges in the EU. The European Parliament and the European Council further encouraged the initiative in 2013 by adoption of the EU Programme for Employability and Social Innovation, in which the support of social entrepreneurship is highlighted as one of three pillars. As a cross-cutting issue, it connects the three sectors civil society (the third sector), the state and the market.
Also in the Danube strategy Social Entrepreneurship embodies precisely this cooperation, which is also reflected within a companies Corporate Social Responsibility programme. By promoting innovation and creativity, as well as supporting and advancing entrepreneurial education, enterprises and NPOs can create synergies within their social activities and thus increase their impact of their initiatives.
Thus, in order to promote the bottom-up processes of the 2nd Participation Day on the one hand, as well as to increase the professionalization of social services through training and skills development as well as to create an exchange of experience and expertise through active networking and cooperation at eye level of NPO`s with companies, this project contributes to the solution of current national and transnational challenges through the use of new social markets along the Danube.
We invite participants for a creative exchange on how to advance social innovation in the danube region under the EUSDR based on the three pillars of the Do-Now! Lab
• Social Entrepreneurship Workshops - Training – Coaching
• "Seed-funding" / Grants for start-ups
• "NPO`s & Enterprise Cooperation for Social Innovation" (Friends of the Danube)
