Docker container, host and registry - a hands-on introduction workshop
Docker is an open platform to build, ship and run distributed applications faster and nicer. We think Docker will change the way application design and deployment works and will influence QA and development processes in order to reduce communication gaps and friction.
The presentation of Solomon Hyke offers a good intro into the Docker. Watch it https://www.docker.com/whatisdocker/
1. What?
We are going to introduce the basic concept of the Docker technology and shed some light on building, distributing and running containers. How does a Docker image work in detail? How are volatile deployment components handled and how is the state of an application stored efficiently?
2. For whom?
You are an engineer with experience in application development and deployment. You want to learn what Docker can do for you and what to expect from a container based application deployment approach? Then this workshop is for you!
3. Take aways (What will I have learned?)
Attendees of the workshop will be able to set up all necessary components of a Docker tool stack. You will learn about the advantages of Docker as well as its limitations.
4. Prerequisites
Linux administration knowledge, bring your Laptop with Wifi Access, install Virtualbox and Vagrant
