🏳️‍🌈2020 – The Year that Hacked the Pride Parades! 🏳️‍🌈

To celebrate the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia (IDAHOT), our first online hackathon will be about international support.

With the COVID-19 crisis causing Pride Parades (CSD in Germany) all around the world to be cancelled, and countries such as Poland intensifying their institutionalised homophobia, transphobia, and biphobia, so far 2020 has been a rough year for our community. Now more than ever, we need to bring the community together and keep up the Pride Month spirit and solidarity.

Pride parades are demonstrations. Pride is a time of visibility for the community, a time to demand equality and justice, a time to celebrate us and our resilience in adversity, a time to educate and bring us forward. The cancellation of Pride events impacts individuals, organisations and the LGBT+ culture as a whole. As LGBT+ talents, we have the opportunity to contribute and find solutions to stand together, raise our voices and fight for our rights online.

The big question: how can we achieve that? Create a blueprint for a digital Pride that could be used by cities around the world? Develop local support through chatbots? Start an awareness program in countries where LGBT+ people are often subject to hate crimes?
