Cosmic enigmas
What do we know about dark matter and energy?

Lectures and discussion with:

Eiichiro Komatsu, is Director at the Max Planck Institute for Astrophysics. He is an expert for cosmic microwave
background, theories of the early universe and inflation. He obtained his doctoral degree from Tohoku University in Japan and afterwards joined Princeton University and the University of Texas at Austin.

Masahiro Teshima, is Director at the Max Planck Institute for Physics. His field of research is high-energy cosmic radiation, gamma-ray astronomy and the telescope observatory projects Magic and H.E.S.S. He was Professor at Tokyo University and visiting researcher at the University of Utah, USA. Until 2002 he was Director of the Akeno Observatory, ICRR of the University of Tokyo.

Moderator: Ralf Krauter, Science Journalist (Deutschlandfunk)

The forum will discuss current positions of astrophysics on dark matter and dark energy — driving forces in the evolution of the universe or yesterday’s theory?
