We invite you to explore solutions to the climate crisis through a role-playing game simulating a UN summit.

About this event

Climate is changing and the global temperature keeps rising. If no measures are taken, by 2100 it might warm to 3.6 degrees above preindustrial levels.

That means that heat waves and forest fires will become more frequent, permafrost will keep thawing, sea level will rise dramatically, and coral reefs will die out. New and previously controlled diseases will spread around the globe even faster.

Living Lab team invites you to the UN emergency climate summit, where you will be able to put on one of the few roles: head of an industry giant, clean tech company or energy services provider, climate activist or even a head of state.

The goal of the summit is to halt climate change and keep global temperature rise within 2 degrees — the threshold set by the Paris Agreement.

What should we do? Plant forests or improve energy efficiency? Tax fossil fuels or electrify transport? Or maybe we should invest in carbon removal technologies?

We will answer these questions by the means of the En-ROADS climate action simulator, developed by Climate Interactive and MIT Sloan Sustainability. Living Lab team — Alyona Yuzefovich, Anastasia Laukkanen and Anna Sycheva — are certified En-ROADS ambassadors.

During negotiations we will cocreate a scenario of the future, in which we prevented climate disaster. And will feel what it is like to be a part of this safe and just world.
