About this event
Why do Germans put mandarins in their boots?
What are we talking about? About this and many other typically German traditions from a typically migrant perspective.
Join us on the 2nd of December for a magical evening with the stories of Migrant Mamas from the award winning book "Mama Superstar". The two authors, Melisa and Manik, will share with you stories from courageous mamas from all over the world who built a life in Germany and hung eggs on trees without fully understanding why. From words to actions: the inspiring stories and call to actions of the women in the book will gift us laughter and inspire us to write our own call to actions to celebrate migration.
What to expect:
The Reading:
"Mama Superstar" reading is a 90 minute event where you will smile with pride, gain hope and laugh with all your heart. Be inspired with this reading of the true stories of 11 migrant mamas, from the award-winning book "Mama Superstar".
The Book:
In 2019, Melisa and Manik published their first book, "Mama Superstar," which was awarded the Kimi Seal (Seal for Greater Diversity and Tolerance in Children's Books).
"Mama Superstar" consists of inspiring stories of 11 Migrant Mamas living in Germany. These true stories take us to hot India, vibrant Mexico and hopeful Iraq, among other places. Above all, the book takes us to the places where the daughters of the Migrant Mamas grew up: quiet Kelkheim, orderly Stuttgart, and multicultural Berlin. Each chapter starts with an impressive illustration and ends with the mama's favorite recipe. The impressions are inspiring, funny and extremely honest!
