Event description
Capital Market Day, February 26, 2020 at Frankfurt School of Finance & Management

About this Event

On February 26, 2020, the Frankfurt School Blockchain Center and Blocksize Capital jointly organize a half-day event to explore the intersection of Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) and capital markets. Together with thought leaders from the areas of finance, regulation and blockchain, the focus will be laid on (1) the impact of DLT on global capital markets, (2) the integration of digital assets into the existing banking landscape as well as (3) regulatory challenges and the status quo of existing digital asset legislation.

DLT has already begun to restructure capital markets value chains and will continue to unfold its potential within the next few years. That will pose fundamental questions for the roles of existing incumbents. Leading institutions already working on the integration of digital assets will share their experience and help understanding the future of capital markets and banking based on DLT. Hence, a special focus will be laid on the digital asset blueprint for the SET that has been designed by Blocksize Capital and the Cambridge Centre For Alternative Finance. The Blueprint focuses on a (a) digital asset registry, a (b) cash-on-ledger registry and a (c) contract registry – all interconnected and running on DLT.

THE EVENT IS IDEAL FOR THE FOLLOWING PEOPLE

Blockchain technology has the potential to fundamentally alter the way business processes are conducted across a multitude of industries around the globe. Waiting for “perfect” DLT solutions could mean missing an opportunity to help shape it. To understand how DLT can address challenges in the financial sector requires both research and real-life applications and pilots. So far, banks and FinTechs have been the biggest sectors affected by blockchain technology and crypto currencies in specific. However, this event will also cover an often unconsidered area of disruption, the capital market.

Therefore, we think the event is best suited for:

  • Employees and decision makers from the financial sector interested in blockchain technology
  • Employees and decision makers from capital market infrastructure providers
  • Employees and decision makers from clearing houses and central security depositories
  • Employees and decision makers interested in digital asset custody
  • Corporates interested in blockchain and innovation
  • Consultants and lawyers interested in the implications of blockchain technology
