Eventinformationen

Hashgraph comes to Frankfurt!

For those of you following the rapid evolution of blockchain technology, this is the event to get the newest insights! Paul Madsen, Technical Lead of Swirlds, the developers of the Hashgraph consensus algorithm, is visiting Frankfurt on May 3rd, 2018, at Frankfurt School of Finance and Management. Paul Madsen will share the latest insights on the new open Hedera Hashgraph platform, which is promising to overcome current hurdles of existing blockchains, like Bitcoin or Ethereum. Read more about Hashgraph here.

The Blockchain & Crypto Initiative, the Hashgraph/Hedera Meetup Group Frankfurt and the Frankfurt School Blockchain Center are looking forward to welcoming you and give you the unique opportunity to meet Paul Madsen, an expert in distributed ledger technology, and discuss your questions with him.

Before the Hashgraph presentation, Daniel Rutishauser will give an introduction into the vivid Crypto Valley ecosystem and why it is currently seen as one of the most important hotspots in the blockchain space. He will additionally share some best practices from the past project work with startups and corporates.

Why Blockchain?

Currently most people rely on trusted middlemen such as banks to make a transaction. Blockchain technology allows consumers and suppliers to connect directly, removing the need for a third party intermediary. Blockchain technology accomplishes decentralized consensus which will have a crucial impact on many businesses such as the finance or insurance industry.

Why should you keep an eye on Hashgraph?

The Hedera Hashgraph platform provides a completely new form of decentralized consensus. Similar to blockchain, a Hashgraph is a data structure working with a decentralized protocol, and it has huge advantages.

  1. It is faster as it doesn’t require computing-intense proof-of-work:
Bitcoin: around 10 transactions / second
Ethereum: around 35 transactions / second
    Hashgraph: around 100 000 transactions / second
  2.  It is “fairer” as it orders transactions chronologically.
  3.  It is more secure than typical blockchain infrastructures.

Hashgraph might be an interesting solution to overcome current obstacles of existing blockchains such as slow processing speed and high transaction fees. Moreover, Hashgraph is on the way to establish itself as a decentralized protocol which has a “bank-grade security level” and can work with financial institutions.

ABOUT

The Frankfurt School Blockchain Center is a think tank and research center which investigates implications of the blockchain technology for companies and their business models. Besides the development of prototypes, it serves as a platform for managers, start-ups, technology and industry experts to share knowledge and best practices.

The Blockchain & Crypto Initiative (“BCI”) is a platform for scientific exchange about blockchain technology at the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management in cooperation with the Frankfurt School Blockchain Center. The mission of BCI is to foster and disseminate knowledge about blockchain and distributed ledger initiatives among young people and students. This initiative is open for everybody who already has a background in blockchain technology or who, for example, trades crypto assets. To attract more attention to emerging distributed ledger technologies we invite blockchain experts from leading blockchain companies to share their insights in regular meet-ups and, also, to conduct up-to-date research.

The Frankfurt Hashgraph Meetup group presents the Hashgraph technology in regular meetings to share insights about the roadmap, enhancements and opportunities for business, consulters, developers and other members of the DLT community. It is an open platform to participate in the rapid growth of the Hashgraph ecosystem.
