Blockchain 4 Business: The Third DLT Camp, for Developers And Businesses

Last year, DLT Camp organized the first Ethereum Camp in Frankfurt/Main.
85 developers participated in the Bootcamp.
14 real prototypes were developed over 5 days.
New ideas were born in a collaborative development environment.

And now, DLT Camp is gearing up for its next major event:

A 4 day bootcamp that will have 100 selected participants developing the next generation of IoT product concepts with Blockchain Technology.

The title of this event is “Blockchain 4 Business.”

The challenge is to connect Hyperledger to real IoT products.

And the goal is nothing less than shaping the future of IoT with Blockchain tech.

The Vision: Shaping the Future of IoT with Blockchain Tech

The products that define the future are built with the technologies that transform today.

Two such technologies are IoT and the blockchain.

IoT products are moving us toward an ever more integrated world, with interconnected device ecosystems.

The blockchain is changing the way the world thinks about money, with distributed ledgers that operate without the need for intermediaries.

These two technologies have already changed the world.

But we’re only beginning to scratch the surface of what can be done with these incredible tools.

At Blockchain 4 Business, we plan to expand our horizons by developing blockchain-powered IoT products.

Developers will work together to develop tools that advance IoT with blockchain technology.

New concepts will be explored.

Prototypes will be developed.

And everyone will benefit from working on the products of the future in a collaborative environment.

The Event: 4 Days of Defining the Future

We are cordially inviting you to join "Blockchain 4 Business" in July, 2018 in Munich (Germany), a bootcamp focused on connecting Hyperledger to real IoT products.

We will provide Raspberry Pi and HiKey hardware sets, sensors, actors, and physical products. We will also teach you coding and how to program your devices: you will implement Hyperledger, connect real products and code a front- and backend.

From a business model perspective, this can yield endless possibilities.

Experts, lawyers and scholars   will hold sessions to explore various facets of how IoT and Blockchain interact.

The camp is supported by the Frankfurt School Blockchain Center, Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, IBM, nexussquared, 21 Digital and more.

The Challenge

The goal of Blockchain 4 Business is to inspire you to build the IoT products of tomorrow - powered by the blockchain.

Specifically, you will be challenged to connect Hyperledger to real world IoT products.

To support you, we’ve put together a stellar team of speakers, including lawyers, developers and industry experts.

There are two categories of participants in Blockchain 4 Business:

IT developers and business developers.

As an IT developer (70 participants), you will develop a IoT/Hyperledger prototype connecting the Raspberry Pi and HiKey, accessing sensors and actors, including Hyperledger and presenting frontend interfaces.

As a business developer (30 participants), you will think of a business model and a clear product or service; you will develop marketing material and a first version of a website; you might also talk to potential customers to get their first feedback.

What We Provide

  • Hardware devices: Raspberry Pi and many other sensors.
  • Experts to help you code and work with the provided devices.
  • A set of real products to be connected, e.g. a truck, a RFID reader, a 220V plug, a charging station for e-cars, a solar panel, a smart meter.
  • A great network, so that you will connect with others and with the teams consisting of both IT developers and business people.
  • Challenges to accomplish with your team consisting of five to eight people (IT + business).
  • Lunch and beverages over the whole bootcamp.

What You’re Going To Do

  • Develop a business model that connects hardware and software with blockchain technology.
  • Build out the prototype in a team of six to ten people.
  • Ideally, develop a working prototype along with a website and video to showcase your product.
  • Present your product and business model at the end of the week to the blockchain community in Munich.
  • We will have a live-TV for the WM-final at Sunday, 17pm. Everybody who is not already into work is free to watch it with some beer & other hackers.

Speakers and Lecturers

To help you in your mission, we’ve put together an all-start lineup of lecturers to help you understand the concepts and technologies at play.

Speeches will include:

  • Disrupting Industries With Blockchain (Prof. Dr. Andranik Tumasjan, Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz - Professor)
  • Business Models for Decentralized IoT Blockchain Applications (Prof. Dr. Philipp Sandner, Frankfurt School Blockchain Center - Head)
  • Lean Start-Up, Canvas, Blue Ocean - What To Use When Starting A Business? (Daniel Grassinger, nexussquared - Co-Founder)
  • Asia - The New Leader In Blockchain (Jochen Biedermann, Blockchain Asia - Founder & CEO)
  • How To Be Sexy In The Eyes Of Blockchain Investors (Dr. Steffen Wachenfeld, WeQ Global Tech GmbH - CPO)
  • How The Blockchain And NFC Can Provide Bulletproof Protection For Supply Chains (Markus Stulle, Deloitte GmbH - Senior Manager Of Technology Strategy & Architecture)
  • Decentralised Access Control Via Blockchain In An IoT-World (Nick de la Forge, XAIN AG - Business Development Manager)
  • Blockchains And Smart Contracts - A Threat For The Legal Industry? (Bernhard Waltl, BMW)
  • more to come...
