Invitation to discuss joint activities for the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development

Liebe Freund*innen und Partner*innen der Ozeane,

unsere Ozeane sind unstrittig unsere Zukunft auf diesem Planeten und wir müssen jetzt handeln, um sie zu schützen. Die 2021 beginnende UN Dekade der Ozeanforschung für nachhaltige Entwicklung ist ein Meilenstein der Menschheit, um die Transformation in der Ozeanforschung in eine sinnvolle Richtung zu bewegen, die für unsere Ozeane dringend notwendig ist. Dazu müssen wir alle zusammenarbeiten.

Wir planen

• die „love your ocean“ Nachhaltigkeitsinitiative auf und mit der boot Messe Düsseldorf Ende Januar 2021 zum 5. Mal (23. - 31. Januar 2021)
• das Ocean Festival auf dem Potsdamer Platz in Berlin (20. - 22. August 2021)
• eine Ozean-Dauerausstellung mitten in Hamburg auf dem Museumsschiff „Cap San Diego“ (ab Sommer 2021)

um die Botschaft unserer Ozeane in die Öffentlichkeit zu tragen. Dafür möchten wir alle starken und interessierten Partner*innen zu einem Online Meeting einladen:

am Montag den 16. November 2020 von 14 bis 16:00 Uhr

Wir würden uns sehr freuen, wenn möglichst viele Vertreter*innen aus Wirtschaft, Wissenschaft, Gesellschaft und Kultur zu diesem Treffen kommen würden, um eine große gesellschaftliche Allianz für die Sichtbarkeit der UN Ozeandekade zu bilden und gemeinsam Exponate, Initiativen und ggf. weitere Veranstaltungen zu entwickeln.

Um Anmeldung wird dringend gebeten, damit wir Ihnen rechtzeitig den Veranstaltungslink zusenden können.

Trotz der Corona-Pandemie wird aus heutiger Sicht die boot Messe Düsseldorf unter Berücksichtigung der geltenden Bestimmungen stattfinden und erste Highlights, wie auch unsere Gemeinschaftsinitiative „love your ocean“, wurden auf der Pressekonferenz am 4. November bekanntgegeben. Die Gemeinschaftsinitiative wird 2021 noch größer und mit spannenden und interaktiven Formaten bestückt werden.

Das Ocean Festival auf dem Potsdamer Platz in Berlin findet vom 20. - 22. August 2021 statt. Gesucht werden spannende und kompetente Partner*innen aus Wirtschaft, Wissenschaft und Gesellschaft sowie Beiträge aus Kunst und Kultur für unsere Bühne.

Wir hoffen, dass wir uns am 16. November zur Auftaktveranstaltung an den Bildschirmen sehen. Aufgrund der aktuellen Situation wurde die zunächst hybrid (real und online) geplante Veranstaltung im Zeiss Großplanetarium in Berlin zu einem reinen online Event geändert. Vielen Dank an das Zeiss Großplanetarium Berlin für seine großartige Unterstützung.

Dear friends and partners of the oceans,

undeniably, our oceans are our future on this planet and we must act now to protect them. The UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development, starting in 2021, is a milestone for humankind to move the transformation in ocean research in a meaningful direction that is urgently needed for our oceans. To achieve this, we all have to work together.

We plan

• the "love your ocean" sustainability initiative at and together with the trade fair boot in Düsseldorf for the 5th time (January 21 – 31, 2021)
• the first Ocean Festival at Potsdamer Platz in Berlin (August 20 – 22, 2021)
• a permanent Ocean Decade exhibition in the heart of Hamburg onboard the museum ship “Cap San Diego” (from summer 2021).

We would like to invite all interested partners to an online preparatory meeting:

Despite the corona pandemic, from today’s point of view, the trade fair boot in Düsseldorf will take place in compliance with the current regulations. First highlights, as well as our joint initiative "love your ocean", have been announced at the press conference on November 4th. The sustainable initiative will be even bigger in 2021 and shall be equipped with exciting and interactive formats.

The Ocean Festival at Potsdamer Platz in Berlin will take place from August 20 – 22, 2021. We are looking for exciting and competent partners from business, science and society, as well as contributions from arts and culture for our stage.

We hope to see you on the screens on 16 November. Due to the current situation, the initially planned hybrid (real and online) event at the Zeiss Großplanetarium in Berlin has been changed to a pure online event. Many thanks to the Zeiss Großplanetarium Berlin for its great support.
